Enjoyable family attraction. However the cafe facilities could be nicer and cleaner. The gift shop was extortionate. However an enjoyable family day out.
We visited in early January, printing priority tickets beforehand. I would definitely recommend buying online before you go, you'll save a few quid that way.As soon as you get in, they pull you to one side for a photograph they'll try to sell you when you get to the inevitable end of attraction gift shop.There's always plenty to see and a good variety of fish to look at in the many different areas here. It's even possible to reach in and touch some of them in the touch pools at the very beginning, which my kids loved. There are also stamping stations along the way for the kids to complete a "dive log book", although some of these didn't seem to be working. The gift shop were happy to hand over our rewards anyway.As you get towards the end, you can sit next to the "Ocean Window" and listen to a talk about the effect of man made pollution on our oceans - food for thought. You then go through the Ocean Tunnel so you can look up at the sharks and turtles swimming around above your heads. This is always the highlight.A final section of the centre was currently closed for refurbishment, which was a bit of a disappointment - it's possible this is mentioned somewhere on their website but I didn't see it. Had I known a bit was "missing" we might have ended up going later in the year when it was finished.Overall though, a great experience as always. We picked up a flag and a squeaky shark from the gift shop - the prices weren't too bad.
What a fabulous place! So impressed and the staff were wonderful. Chap called either Mike or Steve (We discussed the shovelnose and 'translucent' if he's reading this!!) by the big window tank deserves a mention. So friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. We thought it was better than the London attraction in many ways. Daughter loved the turtle weighing etc. Very clever!
If you are not sure about going I'd say DO IT because the staff are so friendly and make adults and kids feel very welcome and they really help get you involved. Make sure you strike up a chat with the staff and you'll see that they are full of great knowledge. Thanks for a lovely visit.
Enjoyed our visit here. My husband and I booked tickets online for Madame Tussauds and Sea Life for 23 each. Visiting Blackpool on a weekday during low season is quite underwhelming, so it's good that these main attractions remain open. The staff were still enthusiastic and informative despite being so quiet. We were just visiting as a couple in our thirties, but still had a good time. It would be better to visit with kids to share in their wonder too. There's a good variety to look at and experience. I particularly enjoyed taking photos there. The giant turtle is impressive! They've got a turtle rescue interactive exhibit which was different. I think it could be improved to make it more of an attraction and bigger part of a day out. It also could have be laid out better, (the layout was a bit confusing and I kept losing my other half!) Worth a visit, especially when it's cold outside!!
